I wish more of you lived locally, I would do alot of your paint work for you, actually I wish I could make a good living just doing custom paint jobs, but they are few and far... :(

vosko 07-26-2002 07:06 PM

i told you. if you do it cheap enough. you can fix my TII body and paint https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

vosko 07-26-2002 07:07 PM

maybe i'll let you drive it around. according to road and track it was only .3 seconds slower than 2002 C5 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png!!!!

I drove Jims brothers TII, I want it now, well not NOW, but I hope he sells it after new years or so and Ill be closing on the house and have a place to put it. Why bother painting your car, it wont run for very much longer, lol. I told you a price, your car has a decent amount of body damage, if it was a straight up paint job, it would be alot easier, plus the car is black, and EVERY imperfection shows up with a black car.

i'm more concerned with getting the damage fixed than having super nice paint. i don't even remember how much the $$$$ you gave me was but i'm sure it was approx the value of the car right now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png paint is not a big deal to me. perhaps when i'm out of debt i will pull the engine again and have it painted and have the engine rebuilt and make the car a real beast. must make TII faster than C5's https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Rob x-7 07-26-2002 07:20 PM

I see there is no longer any mention of your FD. Not for nothing, IM sure its very nice to have 2 turbo beasts, but maybe you should get a normal everyday car to drive all the time, and concentrate on having one well thought out and executed car. Sadly enough, when you deal with all labor, it can sometimes exceed the value, think about a new engine, turbo, intercooler, etc... its more then the value of a TII by far, but people dont think anything about it for some reason, kinda like people who put thousands upon thousands of dollars in stereo eqiupment in pieces of ****. Speaking of which, my welder friend made some amp rack for Busta Rhymes' Hummer thats going to be in the Import thingy at Englishtown next month I believe.

His TII is one of the most "normal" TII's you'll find around here. <_<

I agree with Rob. All of that extra body work will take ALOT of time. I would guess that a shop would charge at least $3000+ for a GOOD job.

vosko 07-26-2002 11:48 PM

IMHO body work can wait. it doesn't make the car faster!

both my cars are highly modded. i think they are quasi reliable. at the current time i don't have the $$$$$$ to get a reliable car. turbovr6 found me a an Audi Turbo Quattro Coupe for $2500. those are damn fun cars. we'll see if i can find $2500 now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

vosko 07-26-2002 11:51 PM

i'm 20 i'm not suppose to have reliable cars https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

That is really depressing to hear you say that. Far more money has been put into the body of my car than engine work. I'd say roughly 30% more. Then again, there is nobody worth a **** to do labor or parts into my car as well as I could do. Other than Rotary Performance, which is 200 miles away, and the closest shop. However, good body shops are a dime a dozen around here.

Damn that sucks!! =(

His car needs alot of body work before they would even think about paint. If all the car needs in paint then I would say about $2000 would be average.

ChainSawOnSteroids 07-27-2002 09:04 AM

for just paint on a tII i would charge about

$1200-$1500 depending on condition,,,oh and also depending on color,,,and if you would want to change the cars color completely (including under hood etc.etc.) with body work ,,,depending on the amount of,,,it shouldnt be $3000 but i would have to see it before naming a rock solid price,,,,,

Leo

P.S. my cars paint job is worth about $8000(well thats what a customer would pay for it(but i would do it for cheaper, much cheaper))

other than the exhaust and a few other minor things ,,, my 86 is stock

vosko 07-27-2002 09:06 AM

this is the brunt of the damage on my TII. it needs a new fender and rust on the undercarraige fixed.

http://67.83.39.159:8085/photos/mads02/t2damage-4.JPG

ChainSawOnSteroids 07-27-2002 09:14 AM

looks like someone needs a l/hs taillight https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

still would have to see it in person,to estimate,,,and thats a bad spot ,right in the wheel arch,,,,and most of all i wouldnt touch a cars body work(personal opinion) before i get a body kit,,,if you plan to get one that is

Leo

vosko 07-27-2002 09:18 AM

when the car ran i was driving it like that since february. body work is the least of my concern on my cars. there has to be someone somewhere that will fix that for like $500. i'll ask judge ito's body shop https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

ChainSawOnSteroids 07-27-2002 09:20 AM

$500 just for the quarter? i could probably do that,,,i woul;d have to see it first but most likely that is very reachable ,,,almost 100%sure

$1200-$1500, IM guessing no primer, or spot priming with wet on wet primer? And you wouldnt take the car apart, or wet sand and buff it? Single stage as well?

I forget how inexpensive some shops are, I know owners of about 8 body shops, and they have different prices, due to what materials they use, and who they have working for them. Honestly, for $1200, I dont know how you can afford to paint and wet sand a car, but I guess your overhead is low enough, maybe Ill check your work out, and send people your way in the future. The materials I use and the work I do, means I get more money and take more time with the job, but I try to stay away from cars- not enough money in them, lol.

ChainSawOnSteroids 08-02-2002 07:13 AM

i use 3M materials, and PPG paint, and my work is good, not immaculate, but good (since i dont do it myself) and its not $1200,,,its $1200-$1500, just to paint, with no damage,

maybe you can see my car,,,although its not mint(i didnt have alot of time ) but it looks awesome Leo
