My car runs really hot, even with the heat on.. i installed an e-fan and it still gets really hot.. i changed my coolant and it still does this.. how can i check if my water pump is bad?? how do i know if my radiator is bad also??
thanks |
V8?
|
dude, no wonder you swap out the 13b for a V8.
check your thermostat. whenever the car gets hot, your t-stat pops open and allows more coolant to be rushed in. |
lol ok...
i read somewhere to drill a hole threw the t-stat to allow better cooling? true? |

Theres a bleeder hole on the waterpump. Pisses when its bad.
Is the coolant coming out of the overflow tank? |

When the car is warm, check the radiator for cold spots, indicating blockage.

you can find the t-stat at a NAPA store, or pretty much any parts store.
|
get a OEM thermostat, its cheap and comes with the gasket.
replace your waterpump, get the radiator flushed and cleaned out. You can have a bad waterpump and not have it weep out the weep hole. check the hoses and belts at the same time all said it will be $125-$150 or so and you will have a properly functioning cooling system. There is no need for a efan, there is something else wrong and just throwing things in the engine comparment is not the way to fix them. If you cant afford to maintain the car you should park it before you ruin it any further. |
ok ill get these things checked out

I have seen impellers in pumps go bad, basically the pump no longer pumps water it just spins, it only comes out the weep hole when the seals go bad.
