hey, i jacked my 7 up the other day, and i don't know why , but i started her up, and but her in gear, had her idling in 1 with the rear wheels off the ground, only my rear left tire was spinning, but i was able to spin the other tire by hand ( not as easy as my left tire spins, but still turnable.
Oh BTW , i a 90 GXl, i wanted to put a tii rear end in because of the LSD, but my buddy told me it wouldn't fit, true or not, and hm... if not, what LSD should i get ???? thanks in advance |
1 tire spins because either your car does not have an lsd or its worn out. A t2 rearend will work, but you need the entire drivetrain then.
|
or a modified driveline
|
modified driveline ????
i mean i have the only 7 around here lol , i have to explain to everybody that i don't have 4 cylinders, and then they always ask if my engine is broke, because it's only running on 2 cylinders Oo |
Didnt s5 gxl come stock w/ lsd???
|
the s5 gxl didnt have an lsd, the miata torsen fits, form a 94+ model
to put the t2 stuff in you need the whole deal like the other guy mentioned |
eh im sry my bad...
|
Wait so did s4 t2's come with LSD's?
|
mine damn sure has one...
|
Look for a tag on the drain bolt or fill bolt on the rear it will say "LSD" on the tag.
Another test: Jack it up and hold one tire still while you have a friend try to turn the other one, you should be fighting each other. Another Test: Do a burnout and see if only 1 tire is peeling out. |
jack up one side- see if you can turn the side thats off the ground- it shouldnt if its an LSD.

No S5 GXL's came with LSD (the GTU-S did) All TII's came with LSD (S4 TII clutch type/ S5 had viscous) |
damit lol, i need and want one :(
hm,.... if i wanna get a good lsd, where to go, what to buy ??? thanks fo all the replies |
I would suggest looking for a 94+ Miata LSD since it is Torsen. Other than that you can use the LSD out of Series 4 GXL and GTU models. I belive that even FB/SA LSD's will bolt in.
|
OK I guess that sums it up, I guess I have one, I did a burnout a while back and only one wheel spun(one tire burnout). So cool thanks for the input. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
|
hm.. i though if only one tire spins then you DON'T have an LSD
|
I thought It was that way.Hmmmmm.. Someone plz straiten us out.**** https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
|
If only 1 tire spun, then you either don't have an LSD or its broke.
|
if only one tire spins, no lsd
I'm slow. |
the whole drive line from a 94+ miata will work in a s5??? because i need the damn drive shaft rear end and every thing haha... ****** swaps

all turbo2's came lsd so if you have a turbo2 it is lsd and if only one tire is spinning you have a problem not a lack of an lsd haha so take a look at it and like jims said the easiest way is to check it and see if it says "lsd fluid only" ect
|
Cool thanks I guess Im gonna go try it.

But he said all s4 TII's came with lsd hmm mabe I should go look at that burnout mark again.
Lastly two marks on the ground are not a clear cut indication whether a car has an open diff or not. I can leave two black marks on the ground and I have an open diff. |
LOL!!! Hey your making things alot more diffcult, nah jk https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png
|
still, what lsd to get if i wanna autocross / drift ???
|
I don't know if this will help, but my LSD didn't have any tab on it. The only difference I noticed was that on the casing, there were raised lettering, MO55 2 on the open diff, and MO55 1 on the LSD diff. When mounted on the vehicle, these markings are upside-down, I think on the passenger side of the diff casing.
