I know this is a rotary forum, but could I please get your honest opinions. I really need a car before March and I don't know which one. I searched the whole US for an 89-91 T2 and have found close to none (found 2). I have found numerous Corolla's but I am questioning their reliability. As for the M3, my dad is the one who told me consider them. I know about their potential, but I just don't like the German design and it doesn't feel right to me. Thanks for your help!!

The Rx7 is your best bet. Those other cars are decent, but they have nothing on the power potential and smooth lines of the rx. You wouldn't have to get a series 5 turboII(89 to 91). You can always get an 87 to 88 T2 which still looks better then the other two cars, and still has the potential of the series 5s. It's up to you man...I'm just a rotorhead.

These cars aren't in the same class. The Corolla has 112-115 HP, Not sure about the M3 but I agree about the German $funk$ any repairs will easily be double$. The 7 would be the best performer, which would compare more towards a Toyota Supra Turbo (which has a GREAT engine).



I'd go with the RX.

I would definetly pic the 7 just because I love them. I agree about the M3, any repairs are going to cost an arm and a leg. The corrolla is a very very reliable car if it was maintained. A friend has one with 270k miles on the original engine and no noises.



So it depends if you are going for style and power, or economy and reliability.

bang for the buck T2 wins out. i just like them alot never really been in or drove either old m3 or ae86.

Go with the TII. I'd look into a series 4 (87-88) they seem to be a little more common, plus with the $ you save not buying a S5 you can spend on mods. and be able to kick a series 5s ass. As for the other cars M3s do have a lot of potential, but like every one else said, be prepared to spend a lot of $$$. The Corolla is an econo-box, if you want something that will get good gas mileage and be a reliable car (if it was well maintained), then go for it, but by no means is it a hot rod.

The series 5 TII is probably my favorite reasonably priced car in the world, so you know my opinion.

It will take BIG bucks to make the M3 perform as well as the TII could. Also, most 88-91 M3 owners want ALOT of money for their cars, like $15K+.

I am getting so pissed. I have missed out on 2 T2's already. First one, the owner sells it right before I go check it out. Second one, the owner fianlly realizes the rareness of his car and decides to not sell it. Now, the third one, the owner reschedules the date for me to see the car. ARGHHH!!! I really hope this time, it works out for me. I have a feeling this will be the car for me.

good luck on that TII. I was kinda looking at the oldskool 4banger M3's also, i have always liked them. But like everyone here has said. Bang for your buck will be TII....
