Is the GTU drivetrain just as "beefy" as the TII's. Looking for either a TII roller, or a GTU/GXL if the drivetrain is the same. Is it? I know the TII can mount up to the 13b-RE/REW but one bolt hole will be empty, and you have to change out the counterweight.

I am trying to figure this **** out, and what my best option is before buying a roller or entire drivetrain. I am purchasing my old 88 SE on Sunday, and am going to start (very slowly!!!) on a turbo swap. Just trying to get the easy things done first as far as drivetrain, suspension, etc. Then figure out what motor, ecu, turbo to run on the car.

Thanks for any info

Justin

the turbo trans/driveshaft/rear/axles are different from the non turbo stuff.

ehhh, how different? is it direct fit, or is some modification needed to be done?

you can use an n/a trans on a turbo motor. the n/a stuff is just uber weak. as in,m you'll blow it all up from the power.

as well as the open diff and axles which you'll also snap with a turbo swap's power.

it's 10000x easier to start with a t2. finding a rolling t2 tho is no easy task. i do know of someone with a roller t2 for cheap tho, needs the rear 1/4 panel replaced. he had it not too long ago, may have sold it.

Well, the 88 SE I am starting with is freshly painted and all the dents were pulled. It had alot of body work done, and it was done by a professional who use to do hot rods.

I actually found some basic information on the TII drivetrain. Seems that you have to do some modification to the transmission tunnel.

But if that is it, it should just swap "right in" with not alot of modification done to it.

And the price I am getting for the 88 SE, you CAN NOT BEAT!! It is a good deal. I would love to start right off the bat with a TII, but it's hard to find, and most people want 1500+ for it.

Besides, the turbo transplant into a car that use to be N/A.

Hmmm, may have found a complete car, updates to follow if anybody cares to know.

Car I am looking at is an 88 TII. Blue, S5 turbo, and manifold. Racing beat exhaust, 10AE interior, straight body. Does not run well right now, could either be CAS or TPS. Has the infamous 3800rpm hesitation. Just got to check the carfax on it, and if everything clears, I am going to look at it on Tuesday. Pictures to follow also.

I am disclosing the price, I think that would be stupid of me to do. But the price is really good for what it is.
