I was looking at my dyno chart and at 5k rpm i still make 175rwhp and 190 ftlb of torque, so i was thinking thats still a decent number. Anyways spring is coming up and because i dont think my 5k hesistation will ever go away i was looking at alternatives and the best one i could come up with is somehow shift my top end, lower. Anyways what would be some good ways to make more power in my mid-range rather than high end? By the time i start racing i should have about 500 dollars to drop into this area.

Thanks.

EDIT: Also if i got a standalone, would i somehow be able to tune to get most of my power below 5k rpms?

JspecRX7 02-01-2004 10:11 PM

lightweight flywheel, carbon fiber driveshaft, GTUs rear end.

TheCamel 02-01-2004 10:28 PM

Fix the problems you have before even thinking standalone, if you cannot work with the minor problems you have why would you even think of going with a stand alone and finding out the problem still exists?

As far as a carbon fiber driveshaft...$950 I don't see that in to many peoples wallets...

www.acpt.com if you want to ask and read about them.

Because i can just shift at 5k rpms instead of 7.

so you're taking a non-torquey, non-lowend engine and LOWERING its redline?

if you ever upgrade your turbo it wont even fully spool by 5k.

I love the thought tho "hey i cant solve the problem, ill avoid it"

when the problem SIMPLY takes maybe $200. god forbid you ever run into a REAL problem that costs REAL amounts of money. $200 is practically like a tuneup for my rx7.

Im sorry for acting out, but i simply cant take it anymore. I will refrain from participating in all of your future posting, and i apologize for this "attack" but such levels of stupidity deserve such a reaction.

No need to bash me or anything i will no longer be in your topics, im clicking your ignore button and all will be settled.

good day sir.

How do you even know that's the problems?! What if i do spend 200 bucks and the problem still isn't fixed, what if i keep spending 200 bucks over and over again and my problem still isn't fixed?!

The reason i'm so pissed is i tried to find a car that i wouldn't have to go redo everything every twenty seconds. If i had just bought a shell i couldve completely redone everything and still had extra money but it looks like i might have to replace my brake rotors now too on top of all this other crap.

teknics 02-01-2004 10:51 PM

3500 is less than how much the rebuild, stereo, and shipping cost me combined. You think i don't appreciate the car? I drove it for a month before stuff started to go wrong, and it took the first 3 weeks of that month to fix all the little problems the car came with. Everything worked fine for about a week, maybe two. Right now it feels like i'll never get everything working again even if i dump all my money into the car which i have been doing. You think i don't treat the car like i should? I keep the car under a car cover, in a garage so it doesnt get dust on it. And i don't think i've EVER driven the car in any sort of rain. But caring enough about the car and having enough money to make everything work right are two totally seperate things. On top of the fact that i've had pneumonia all last week and had to miss out on a good 30 hours of work and the fact that I will miss out on the next week of work as i catch up on 6 days of school makeup work(finals in a week) and I just lost about 300 dollars. Finally i doubt i'll get scheduled much because everytime something like this happens to someone they get screwed on hours for the next few months so i might as well quit. I was hoping to be well enough to start training for track again tommorrow too but that isn't going to be happening either. I have all this time to work on my car but somehow i don't have any of the parts i need, i dont even have freaking electric tape, or speaker wire and i can't go drive anywhere to get it becuase i'm not allowed to drive because of the med's i'm on for the pneumonia. I want something to fix the car that i can do myself, but it looks like i'm gonna have to ship my injectors out which really doesnt bug me but i don't want to go get new o-rings. I can order them from mazdatrix and pay 4 dollars for shipping on freaking o-rings, yay because the stupid local mazda dealership doesnt do ****. Everytime i go in i get no respect or any service from them because i'm young. They ignore the hell out of me and if i try to get parts i get "too busy" or " we cant do that" crap which i know they can.

sounds like you need a self help forum to vent your problems ....not a rotary board

you own a 15 year old car...**** IS GOING TO FALL APART.... you think youre the only one with problems

my engine blew in september...i have put on a total of 1092 miles since then....it is now in my garage on 4 jack stands.....my starter is blown

holy crap....be a ******* man...toughen up lucy

ColinRX7 02-01-2004 11:11 PM

That's the problem with all older cars.. People are surprised when they break down. Think about how many years some parts lasted without problems.

I took this winter as an opportunity to fix/rebuild things before they break (plus repaint her too lol)..

Well, i've left my house a grand total of 4 times in the past two weeks, and the only outside contact with the world i've had has been AIM and nopistons.com. I think i'm getting a little off at least mentally.

TheCamel 02-01-2004 11:13 PM

Owning an older mazda you have to realize things will break over time. Not everything will go your way. Wait till you realize the motor blew because of a shitty load of gas you got, or that a wire broke in the middle of a casual drive and you went lean, these things happen. These things are part of owning a used car, suck it up or sell the car and buy something with a warranty. But do not sit here and try to think of other ideas to get around fixing the problems you have now. Spending upwards of $1200 plus an install for a standalone that you cannot tune, just to find out the problem is still there from a $27 fuel filter does not make any sense.

I have 3 RX-7s, and none are road worthy at the moment. Am I upset... Not one bit. Why? because I knew walking into this venture that there would be problems with them.

So wipe your tears, get out of your corner and get on with life.

Dramon_Killer 02-01-2004 11:15 PM

Problem is, i'm on a timeline. I have until college starts to enjoy my car and then i'll probably never see it again until i graduate unless i manage to get a full ride to a local college. That's why i'm so frustrated.

teknics 02-01-2004 11:32 PM

cry me a river...........

and why cant you see your car at college? going to college on an island?

No, but the car will pretty much be garaged at home. As of now i'm taking the Accord to college, but I think i'm gonna save up a bit and try to find a bit nicer of a daily driver.

when at college , you visit home a lot, have many vacations, including (on average) a summer break from may - august/september

Dude no worries we all get along here.

But seriously listen to what they are telling you. You have to deal with the problems as they come and be prepared to do so no matter the circumstance. All cars in general, let alone Turbo FC3S Rx7s.

Well this isn't going anywhere productive, and I don't think anyone else will mind If they don't have to regret reading all this BS.
