Just got my motor back from a rebuild https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
Now I have to get some motor oil, just wondering what is the reccomended weight, and what brands do you guys use and reccomend? I was thinking Shell Helix Ultra?? Thanks :bigok: |
i dont think it makes a difference but do not use synthetic
|
just get regular oil thats appropriate to your climate...if you go synthetic..which is a big controversy..make sure your remove all the oil properly.......get oil you believe in.....castrol gtx 10w40 for me...canada

When breaking in a new motor you should always use a good mineral oil. A synthetic oil will extend the break-in period. I've used Castrol GTX for a long time.

:P I just got a Mazda rebuilt in mine..got 900 miles on it...I have used Castrol GTx 20/50 and had excellent results.... put 147k on my first 83rx, 60k on my 84 and am hoping for 200k from my current 88 vert..... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Try to keep it under 3000 rpms for the first 500 miles the below 4000 rpms till you get to 1000 miles then change the oil and filter. also watch the temp and make sure it runs cool....She will live long and prosper.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

Thanks guys, so run with mineral oil for the break in, then after about 5,000kms
change over to a synthetic and change the filter? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |
