So... just came back from a track day school. During hard left hand high speed corners where the suspension is fully loaded the oil light comes on... Ditto when doing lots of multiple slaloms.

Does the engine actually get starved of oil or is the oil level sensor just finiky?

I talked to some other more seasoned rx7 competitors/instructors and they told me they too noticed that at first. There are two options to remedy this problem. Oil baffle plate, which requies a bit of work. (is there enough space to drop the oil pan without pulling the engine?) or jsut make 100% sure you fill the oil up to the max, and add a touch more.

actually i just thought of a 3rd option, dry sump.

I have an oil pan baffle and the sensor still activates the buzzer during spirited driving, with a full amount of oil. Not necessarily an end all soultion imo.

I've had the same issue with some and not with others, the oil moves around a lot in there when you are cornering hard.

Yes, I guess that is true too. I also remember reading up on how sometimes that sensor does act up, they are getting pretty old if it hasn't been replaced from new.

yah the sensor actually just follows the g forces, id ignore it. the windsheild washer light is like the up/down g meter

an update. I overfilled the motor with more oil. Basically 2/3 to 3/4 of a quart more oil meaning it registered just at the start of the curve of the dip stick for oil level.

It worked.

What is the car meaning when it says "Stop" on the idiot light dash?
