I'm going to do an oil and filter change for my car tomorrow (first one since the engine rebuild) and I was wondering what the best stuff to get would be. I've heard 20-50 was good stuff, but any particular brand? Also, I really have no idea what the best oil filter is, so I'd like to hear some thoughts. I'm trying to take really good care of my 86 NA so it lasts for a long time, so recommend the best! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Also, as a side note, has anyone seen any CF fenders for sale? I'm really interested in doing lightening on my car this summer, and was trying to price out various pieces. I wanna stick to CF and not fiberglass, going for quality workmansip! Any tips help!

What dakmis said. I use Mobil One 15w50 and it works just fine. And people will say buy an OEM filter, or you can buy K&N oil filters too. Dunno where they can be found though.

Where the hell can OEM filters be found? Mazda dealerships?

And should I be using synthetic? I am told by some people synthetic will cause leaks on an older engine where the seals could be worn. But these are piston head guys. Not rotorheads. Just curious.

I use Royal Purple, its kinda expensive, but I figure its worth it for the long run of my engine and for the little bit of free revs i get out of it. And once I put the oil in I noticed no new leaks whatsoever, and my engine had 110K mi on it and probably run on fossil oil its entire life.

I think I used Castrol GTX 10-W-40 and a Mazda OEM oil filter.

i use WIX filters there like 5-8 bucks a piece but the internals are great, even better than k&N

Any oil will work "just fine" but it won't be optimum. FSM says don't use anything less than 20w50 unless you see temperatures in the negatives.

I use Castrol GTX 20w50, and OEM filter. I am having second thoughts about the OEM filter though.. We just had a filter discussion a few weeks ago.
