The Official Mazda RX7 GTUs Owners Club Thread
Ever heard of the 1/100 non restamped 89/90 GTUs rx7s? There was only 1100 GTUs models created between 1989 and 1991 and only 100 of them did not get an X through the firewall.
These 100 Non restamped models are the rarest rx7 fc's ever produced. out of that 100 made there were only three color options: 83 red on black 10 black on black 7 white on blue There is a list that has been going on the RX7Club for over 17 years now that shows almost everyone of the hard to find 100 rare models. This is not a thread to argue how they came to be or what they came with, this is a VIN registry thread. If you have or know of the GTUs and can show that it is alive please post up! How do you know you have a GTUs??? There are many rumors to how they came to be. Here are a couple facts that will assure you have one: The vin number will be non turbo, but the inner door tags will show it as a turbo. Only the turbo cars came with 16inch rims, these tags are reserved only for them, the GTUs has that door tag with a non turbo vin. Other parts include a 4:30 differential, different gearing to the steering rack and transmission, turbo seats, no sunroof. Some say they were promo cars to be 20b na's, some say just turbo cars, some say they just threw **** together and called it a rx7. Fact is the VIN and the door tags will let you know, the other parts will assure how unmolested it is! This is a great idea because it is possible for someone like this to just start printing GTUs stickers and putting them on any model that has similar options put on it that the GTUs came with.

They just keep making up numbers with no sources to back their claims. there are not 2000, 1200,1100 or even 100. we need to everyone who claims they have one of these rare models to post a picture of the car, the firewall and the door tags. This is the only way to avoid people claiming they have one of the rare models when they do not and messing up the registration list or owners club lists like this:

I want to emphasize the reality that IceMark (Rx7club creator and admin) made the claim of production numbers and of the restamped 20 years ago on this thread and proved his claim by citing himself. Over the past 20 years people have cited him and that is how all this nonsense came to be and why this thread is important and necessary to stop all the rumors everyone has been making up. Another confirmed GTUs model!!! This one has some pretty cool documentation with it! So if you have the window sticker that will suffice as well. However the door ID tags, vin number and shot of the car is what it takes to be confirmed as a legitimate GTUs model!
It has been made clear now that there was NEVER any confirmed production numbers for the GTUs and all claims are made up and false. Only what has been found is what exists. It has been shown that all claimed GTUs restamped models are not legitimate, there is no way to prove they were a GTUs. Bottom line Mazda calls the GS several models from base, GTU, GTUs and all custom orders (according to Beaverton Mazda). Another confirmed GTUs model found! However it appears this is already on the list and is just changing hands and is no longer in the condition it previously was posted as, but is being restored!

Almost 20 years later no proof and it’s dead. The he GTU is the restamped and there is obviously less than 100 GTUs models produced at best. Right now there are only 7! The rarest rx7 is what the GTUs is looking to be! Neat! |

Despite a couple admins and moderators on social media and the club making it hard by hiding threads, deleting posts etc, I solved the restamped rumors and changed the GTUs claims by discrediting the previous claims of production numbers and restamped models.
