Well this is the 2nd 2nd Gen I've owned but the only one of the two that runs. It's also the 1st time I've ever driven a 2nd gen. Some of the things I've noted:



The car handles better then anything I've been behind the wheel of except for maybe a Formula Vee...but that doesn't count does it? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png



My 79 1st gen ran but it had all sorts of loose parts, etc so it never handled all that well.



Shifting is really odd if you pay attention to the shift up light. It'd have you in 5th gear by the time you hit 40.



Shifitting is also a pain in the arse when you're totally not used to driving a manual for many years and the shift bushings in your car are totally worn out.



Decent power, but not the OOMPH I had with the 1st gen. Must fix this!



Trying to find where "comfortable" is with these seats. The driver side seat is a bit worn out so I gotta get that fixed.



All in all I LOVE the car.



180k on the clock.how much longer do you figure the engine will go?

depending how hard you drive your car, your engine can go anytime...180k is somewhere near your critical point...if you have the money, rebuilt the engine asap or else you'll need new parts when it'll break a seal...

Ah well, my other 7's engine was supposedly replaced at some point so I could always do a swap when this thing gives up the ghost.

words to live by. I thought I was mentally prepared but found out the hard way I really wasnt.

So my advise to you, 90% of the time shift when the light tells you to.

Have you ckecked the compressions yet? It would give you a good idea of the engine condition.

At least I've got an engine that was supposedly rebuilt in my other car. Hopefully if I have to transfer it the problem is really and truely a vaccum leak and will go away.



Hopefully that won't be for a long while yet tho. (crosses fingers)

BTW, which one has a vacuum leak? Do you hear the same leaking sound on both car? ???

The Red 7 that's in my garage has the leak, it will not run at all unless you sit there and spray carb cleaner on it.



I've not noted the sound from the blue one but then I'm not really listening for it either.
