Lets face it these cars are getting old even if we think there not, lol. Definately check the grounds, look to see if any of the copper in the wire has turned green under the insulation. Don't know why this happens, but its notorious on chevys like cavaliers and old pontiacs. I have replaced/repaired so many wiring harnesses on those. Yeah I know a bit off topic, but it might cheer you up. Even if the ground looks clean, clean it anyways and cover it in vasoline or battery terminal protector(in the spray can). Check your harness where it goes through the firewall. Might find a broken wire there. Good luck
I have redone ALL Grounds an i Mean All of them across The entire Harness inside and Out it has to be a Power issue. could there be a Wire under the dash that its Broken? |
i did have my ignition wire go out on me

ok i was talking to a Guy who has a 88 and he said there might be a Fusible link some where that went out under that dash are there any?

There's a fuse on the ignition yes, however I think the one that would be the issue in this case would be in the engine compartment.

the main fuse is bolted down on both sides with 10mm bolts and is an 80 amp fuse if i remember right and was 3 bucks

All the fuses in the fuse Box and under the hood are fine. i was Asking if there was one UNDER the Dash somewhere

Does your OEM alarm work correctly? I would suggest bypassing that and see if you have any better luck.

Do you not have the security light in the center console? Personally I removed mine and replaced it with another foglight switch. Here's the wiring. Satch (rx7club.com) can tell you how to bypass it so you can eliminate it as the suspect. Attachment 16496 ***Edit*** After re-reading all of the previous posts I do not believe that your alarm is responsible for your problems. It looks like the alarm disables the starter so I doubt you would be able to get it to turn over if it was the problem. |
