Ok, some background information. I have nos spark from the trailing coil. It is grounded I checked that. There is power going into the coil but not firing. The coil has also been tsted alone and is in good working condition. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

well its pretty simple, the cas tells the ecu when to fire the coils. so if the leading works the cas -> ecu part works. the ecu could be bad, or the wires between the ecu and trailing coil, or the trailing coil

Thanks for the response. The leading coil is firing, the car will start like a lot of other one's i've seen with this problem. No tach like usual. so you think ECU?

possibly the ignitor? If you take apart the ignitor you'll see a small circuit board, it's possibly a wire has come loose or it has burnt up.

I also check all your connections. It might be something simple. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

either the ecu, the wireing or the trailing ignitor/coil

Tach is triggered by the trailing ignitor - if the tach isn't working,

look to the ignitor.

Disconnect the 4 pin connector on the trailing ignitor. Tap the red

wire going to the coil pack with +12 volts - this should fire the

front trail plug (and make the tach needle twitch). If it doesn't,

the ignitor or the coil is bad - either way you can pick up another

trail module (coils/ignitor/all of it) pretty cheap.

Thanks guys. I have another 3-4 packs so I will give another a shot. I checked for continuity in the wires so I know they are good.

Oh Yeah, sorry for not saying this earlier. The tack jumps on start up then just stops.

83turbo 05-16-2004 07:50 AM

That's actually a very useful piece of information. See if the trail

plugs are firing when the engine cranks.

greenfaceman 05-16-2004 01:34 PM

The tack jumps. But they are not firing even when it cranks.
