Well the car ran fine last night. went to start her up today and nothing. i have no spark at all. I checked fuses and there all fine. I dont really know what else I am suppose to check??

also what is the little silver box on the driver side....its in the firewall right corner. I unscrewed that a few days ago to look for a way to get through the firewall better, and forgot to screw it back onto the car. so maybe something got bumped loose with that thing? not sure if it has anything to do with spark or not.

Hmmm. What year and turbo? N/A?

It helps out the other members identify your problems better.

How old are the plugs that are in there now? Could be a dead alternator, dead battery. You would be surprised if it is your plugs. I just pulled mine the other day and there is less than 1000 miles on them, and they were carboned over and shot.

Husemoller 06-07-2004 09:31 PM

its a 87turbo

if it was the plugs wouldnt it atleast get spark? they only have a few thousand miles on them. my tach dosnt move at all either well trying to start.

a dead alt would cause no spark then? i think my alt was getting ready to die on me. sounded like the bearings were going so maybe it went out on me

Hmmm. Tach usually works along with the trailing plugs. So something is wrong with your trailing plugs, or the spark plug wires for the trailing. Does it want to start , just won't kick over? Or is it just completely dead? Like no idiot lights? Radio work?

Get a voltmeter and test the battery really quick like if you have not done that. If the battery is fully charged, put a voltmeter up to the battery while in the car, and crank the engine over, but don't give it any gas, and have somebody look at the volt meter for you. If it is reading below 10 I believe, you don't have enough power in the battery to turn the car over.

Could be a number of things after that. But try those. Also look out for j9fd3s to answer for you. He is super duper smart when it comes to these things.

nothing electrical is wrong with it...all lights work everything is fine. listen to music it dont matter. i just am not getting any spark to any of the coils at all. im not loosing power or anything, so i would think the battery is fine.

I dont know if this has anything to do with the no spark problem. but today i went and picked up the tools in my car. unlocked the doors went in and took my tools out. shut the doors (didnt lock them) and then went and shut the hood and such, and decided to see if maybe the car would start. opened the door and my alarm went off for some reason??? this is the first time i even heard the alarm work, and it worked when it shouldnt have?? think there is any simularity (not the word i was looking for) in this??

FCmaniac 06-08-2004 02:42 PM

I'm pretty sure my car will not start with the stock alarm armed, maybe it has ignition cut? I thought it would be starter cut though like most of the aftermarket ones.

Husemoller 06-08-2004 03:20 PM

yeah the stock alarm cuts the starter i am pretty sure. but i dunno, im going to mess with it some more tonight after work. start testing some stuff.

anyone have any idea what that silver box is on the right side of the enginebay towards the firewall is?

Husemoller 06-08-2004 05:29 PM

well that silver box i guess was the eng inj relay thingy....it wasnt grounding good. cleaned up the connection and such and it started right up. thanks everything
