Sorry for the confirmed kill. If you are looking for a quick fix, get a jspec engine. But like V said, get it rebuild and upgraded.

Did you confirmed you had compression or even bounces in the front?

YucA 12-30-2002 07:59 PM

How come when something goes wrong, everyone on this forum always jumps on the BLOWN ENGINE bandwagon. "My tire pressure is low"........."Must be a blown engine" You could very well have a stuck fuel injector dumping hordes of fuel. Which would equal to less power, and obviously a overly rich mixture. An engine which once had both primary injectors stuck open gave every characteristic of a blown motor. But it had good compression.

It could also be the coil.....check for spark.

This one is rare but make sure your intake isn't clogged up with OH lets say a rag. Don't ask me about that.

spark is great, intake is clear, i'm thinking fuel system, the filter is stock, I might clean that out or replace it seeing as how it's 13 years old.

do you get any engine codes? do you know how to check them? hook a wire from the initial set connector to the negative battery terminal and turn the key to on (not to fully start)...if there are error codes stored, the check engine light will flash a code (a tutorial can be found here www.1300cc.com )

when my TPS went bad...it idled fine...but would backfire, hesitated...and had no power....but didn't run totally rich like you say.

i'd think that if it idles fine and you don't need to keep your foot on the gas to hold it, its not blown...

good luck!

I didn't jump on the blown engine bandwagon...I suggested that the front rotor got washed with fuel and that killed the compression. We'll have to wait until he gets a working ECU and see what happens.
