ok guys i got my motor back in and it has alot better compression than it did from the first "rebuild". i tried to start it but no go so i took a look at my harness and it was just ugly, injector plugs cracked and what not so i went and got one from a junk yard. i noticed that these plugs where a brownish color and my others where red and this one has a resistor relay thing that my other one did not have why is this? What would keep the injectors from opening i have a good main relay, cas, harness, ecu, resistor relay, and decent injectors

halfway through the s4s, i believe they went from low impedance to high impedance injectors...that's why your plugs are different.

would this keep them from opening?

yes, i believe the signal is different...if you have hi impedence injectors now, and your ecu is sending a low signal, it wont open. I could be mistaken, but i believe the change occured in 87 1/2 year model...my car is an 88, but i had to get a new harness, which came from an 87. That meant new injectors and ecu too.

i have a 88 ecu and 88+ injectors so it may be better to just replace the plugs on my old harness does any one know where i can pick some up?

can someone tell me how to bypass the resistor pack

FCmaniac 05-17-2004 08:14 AM

from a rotary site:

***IF using HI injectors on a LI harness, you must unplug the resistor pack. Next, locate the supply wire in the center of 5 terminals. Bridge jumper wires from this terminal to each of the 4 outlying terminals, which basically completes the circuit without resistors, carrying the HI injectors' 12-13 ohm load directly to the ECU just as a HI harness would.

The 88 stuff is unique with the injectors different than the 86-87 and the 89+ so I'm not sure if this is exactly what you need if you're running an 88 ECU and 89+ injectors with an 86-87 harness.

I'm just glad Mazda could make one more thing a headache about these cars... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
