winter is not a good time to invest in a rx7. you'll think its some sort of death trap.

but as far as working on it and such, its a great investment, given that you have a rotary shop nearby. rx7's being so far and few between, brews a certain kinship between owners. i always smile when i see a seven, and would gladly pull over and help with a flat tire, busted radiator, etc. what im trying to say is the rx7 community is very friendly and always looking to help out.

just cruise thru this website, and you'll find tons of information, that can help you with your decision.

Rx7s are THEE worst winter "beater" there is. Get a truck.

chris1188 10-15-2003 07:08 AM

thanks guys. maybe it wont be a winter beater https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png. i have a feeling theres a shop that does rx7s around here becuase i see them quite a bit around town. next time i see them ill get them to pull over and ask lol. but which is that like with the trim levels im not big with imports and this bodystyle is one of the few imports i like. but what are the trim levels and were does this car fall.

Ya don't use a RX7 as a winter beater.I just got my TII a month ago.It gets dangerous in the rain let alone snow.Even though I haven't drove this car in the winter yet im still gonna put the car up for the winter and just work on it everday. This is my only car and I won't take the risks of winter driving it especially if it needs work done like the car you were looking at does.RX7s are special!Welcome to the forum it is very helpful.

Buy it anyway.. would make a great project car. $1200 is good with some mods already on it.

as everyone else said, rx7s r not good in the winter. another thing to be careful of. make sure u drive the car first, or since ur young, have a friend or a parent drive it first. exhaust systems can cause serious engine problems on a t2. best of luck.

i bought my car online too...

make sure to get pictures from everypossible angle. this way you won't be dissapointed when you go to see it. there is nothing worse. 1200 is a good price though, so check it out. pretty soon u'll look like this. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

And chris welcome.

I have never, ever had a problem in the rain with my 87 GXL. Never.

I live in Texas so driving in the winter is not that bad here but I have never had a problem in the rain. I remember a few years back having to drive mine in some icy conditions and never had a problem. It doesn't happen much here in texas though.

To be very honest, I feel very safe in my RX7 in the rain. Maybe I have been lulled into a false sense of security. Now my good friend has a '03 Vette. I do not, and I emphatically repeat I do not feel safe in that in the rain. I sometimes feel like it is getting away from him when on dry roads let alone wet.

Now the safest car I have felt in in any conditions is an '03 BMW 745i. Now that is a secure feeling car.

In the snow you will lock up all four wheels on light braking! The car it too light to get any traction. But it can be fun in a parking lot if you have someone who is gonna be there to pull you out if you get stuck.

of course you havent had any problem with your rx7 in the rain when you live in texas. you guys dont have rain there, it sprinkles. come to washington, the rain state and drive your rx7, youll have a whole different point of view of rx7's in the rain. i agree with the others, i would never drive my rx7 in the snow, thats just suicidal. dont get me wrong, i do drive my rx7 in the rain all the time, but forget about starting on a hill without spinning, and dont give it any gas when driving around a corner. i love my rx7 to death, but if its going to be your only car and you live where it snows, i would buy a truck or an suv, save your money for an rx7 as a summer car. hope that helps, good luck finding a car.

I live in Texas also, it ******* rains violently here. I was looking for Noah and pairs of animals the first bad rainstorm I experienced when I moved here. That said, the FC handles the bad weather just fine.

It also has quite a bit to do with your driving ability. My first car was a Chevelle SS, I drove that car in 8" of snow with no difficulties. Much harder to control than the FC in bad rain. When the first snow of the year hit, I took the Chevelle to a large, open, local parking lot and learned how to control the car properly. The same might be good idea for you next time it rains.

Welcome to the forum.

I drove through the hurricane and never had a problem with traction, as long as you are light on the pedal.

I agree to that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png My dads 740iL feels safe as can be.
