Compression Loss Wont Start?

i think i might of figured out why my T2 wont run since it was sitting for so long during winter and wasnt put all the way together.
a guy told me that my seals might have shrunk and they need to build compression so the engine will run could that be the reason if so how do i build compression in the engine and does that makes sense compared to my MAFS and my vaccuum lines and exhaust leak but if it didnt have compression why did it turn over and start then die it shouldnt of started should it?
any comments would be great.

I have a 87 T2 that sat in a junkyard for 4yrs due to a engine fire and when i put it back together the motor still had good compression. I don't think the seals woill shrink or dryrott. I put ATF in it before i started it for the 1st time. But it is possible the motor is low on compression. you will not hurt the engine by starting it. it could be several prolems bad motor, vac leak, fuel probem, bad ignitors, timing,. you should check compression 1st off.
