Well, I just bought this car tonight, it runs fine, it idles very... awkwardly. It revs high, and then it cuts out.. then it revs high again. repeat this process. I dont know whats wrong with it. Any ideas?

Also, when I accel, the rear end ( or at least I think its the rear end ) clunks real hard. Am I right?

Anyways.. Thanks for the help!

I think we bought the same car, Make sure all the hoses to your By-Pass Air Valve is connected and the plug with the two wires are pluged in.

The clunking is your front differential case mount. You have two round ones on top and one odd shape one on the bottom, the bottom one will be near whare the driveshaft connects. You hear it clunk on and off the gass.

It's a good place to start anyhow, also check for any other vacuum leaks under the hook.

I do what I can.

So it needs to be replaced, yea? Where can I get new mounts and how much are they?

I have a similar issue, but I thought it was the transmission mount.

I just went to the dealer, the mount was around $95. Mazdatrix sells a stiffer one for a little more money, but i perfer to stay with factory direct replacement parts for that stuff. Or get lucky and find a somewhat good one in a salvage yard.

Wait, I'm confused. I thought there was 3 total? Two on top and one on bottom? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

The two round ones rearley go bad, the front one that actually hold the diff down is what you have to worry about.

RXheaven13b 04-11-2007 02:40 AM

Yeah, i just bought one infact, correct two round ones near the back that rarely go bad and the one up front that tears appart. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...0336&rd=1,1

That's a good price! When I replaced mine, the mazdatrix competition mount was cheaper than the OEM unit. Mazdatrix sells good, quality stuff.

The clunk may also be the transmission mounts, but more than likely it's the front diff mount as mentioned above.
