whats up you guys, new to rotary been floating around the site collecting information about my car i own. so far i have 1990 gtuhttps://www.nopistons.com/attachment...ine=1376534446
base model 5 spd.

at the current moment it will not start no combustion, upon recieving the car i found the fuel pump was replaced and the trail and lead coils have been replaced. but i dont believe im getting any spark. the spark plugs are all the same and they require two different types.
how do i test the coils to make sure if they work?
the car cranks just but nothing other than it turning.

what should i look to next to get this bad boy running? im sorry for the lack of and i am learning.

Re: new to rotary need suggestions.

You need to test to see if there is any spark. Do this by pulling the leading plug wire for #1 (top forward wire) and place a screw driver(#2 Phillips works well) into the spark plug lead. While having a helper crank the engine hold the screwdriver by handle only, and metal part close, not touching, a ground surface and watch for spark. If spark then ignition is good. Need to check for fuel. Turn key on with gas cap off. Check for whirring/humming noise from tank. If good then check that fuel filter is not clogged. Best way is under car, remove filter input hose from tank and quickly turn ignition to on then off. If fuel, then pump and line to filter is good. Check output side same way. If fuel then filter good. Move on to the fuel regulator toward the back of the engine where the fuel line comes up from under the car. Check here same way for fuel. If good then verify regulator return side works same way. If good then I think you may have an injector problem which can be injectors or the computer not turning them on. Hope this helps.

i'm fairly new to rotary's as well. when i got mine it did the same thing. it wasn't running. i did a complete tune up on it and it still wouldn't run. what i did find out is that oil helps it hold compression. i did an oil change on mine and towed it behind my pickup in 2nd gear with the key on. it fired up after a few minutes of towing it. i also found out that the fuel pump doesn't kick on until the engine is turning and trying to start. so if it floods it won't start and thins the oil out.

Any luck getting it started?
PM me ur number. It's easier to do this over the phone.

Have u done a compression test?
U can check spark by pulling a leading plug, grounding it to the chassis and looking for spark while cranking. Trailing does not matter. I don't even recommend using it Especially for turbo.
U can test for fuel pressure with starter fluid. Spray it in ur maf while cranking. If it starts than u need to do a real fuel pressure test.

sorry I have been busy working to reply but! I did get it started it was a bunch of things. I went out and checked fuses the 100a main was bad. the spark plugs were in the wrong firing order, it was severly flooded and the here's the kicker there was no ecu.

when I posted I had just received the car Under the impression it was running before I got it and was just going through the check list of why it wouldn't start. even if I tried to start it with the ecu it was so badly flooded is need to clear every thing before starting
