I got a new brake MC, and it leaks. I managed to shove in the old reservoir without any problems, nothing broken or cracked. But I see fluid coming out around the rubber grommets. It's sitting as far down as it'll go in there. Does the location of the "stems" of the reservoir see pressure? Someone suggested just putting some silicone sealant around there. Would that work? I don't know why I didn't post this sooner, I've been adding brake fluid every time I drive my car, for the past couple weeks.

But the grommets are brand new! They came already in the MC, I just had to shove the plastic reservoir in. What gives?

ey oh, family forum, remember.
kevin. I think I'll try some sealant, and just see how it goes |
That sealant job is messy, and it worries me. Fluid came from between the plastic and rubber grommet, in addition to between the rubber grommet and the metal MC housing. I sealed around where the plastic and rubber meet, but I'm afraid of really making things messy, and not solving the problem, if I put a bunch of goop where the metal and rubber meet.
Before I go ahead and try this, or take it to a shop (boooo!!!), does anyone have any ideas? This is pretty much the only thing not working on my car right now, and it's driving me nuts. I just want to have a fully-functional car for at least a little while before I decide to screw something else up. |
I had one of the plastic resivours crack on mine. Check it also.
