Hi to everybody. Like i said, i'm new to this forum and to Rx-7's. Anyway, I just bought a '88 GXL n/a. I am planning to clean the car up, restore the body and new paint. I also want to add a nice audio system. I was wondering what you guys thing about my plans for the engine. I want to get a rebuild and have it ported. i want to stay with the n/a motor. I am planning on adding a supercharger. i was wondering if the fuel system had to be upgraded and if any thing else would need to be replaced/upgraded. Thanx fro replys https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

my suggestion would be to first get the car running ok. then when you have the money have the engine rebuilt and ported. putting on supercharger is very expensive!!

get the car running and looking like it did when it came off show room...resotre it before you take it to where it wasnt "meant" to go lol...mines restored and i erecently set up an audio system with it...that alone.....running...system...interior..paint and body will cost you an excess of 3 grand

You will be much much better off going with a turbo, even if you keep the car, and do a turbo swap, it will be much less of a headache than a Supercharger, which won't give you the kind of power you want, Superchargers work best on cars that don't rev to 8.5K+, you will either have to lower the redline to prevent overrevving the super, or put such a large pulley on it, that it won't make much power anywhere in the usable range, Rotaries are like, made for turbos, or something.
