I just bought a 90 GXL with a S4 engine. There are a few problems that I need to fix though.

1. The first problem is that there is a massive intake leak that is causing the car to idle at close to 2k rpm. My friend has a s5 intake manifold and I was wondering if that would bolt right up to the s4 block.

2. I want to change all the vacuum lines because I really don't trust them as they are now. I was looking for silicone lines, but was wondering what diameters and lengths I would need to do all the lines.

3. The sub zero start assist...Does it do anything? I live in a cold climate, but is it even necessary at all?

4. The engine dies before it warms up unless I give it osme gas. I'm pretty sure This is also related to the intake leak.

5. The exhaust afterburns if i rev above 4k and let off the throttle. I'm guessing this is a rich fuel mixture, which is normal, but will setting the TPS fix this? The car has the stock exhaust.

I'm going to check my TPS and timing, but is there anything else i should do? thanks

1. no it wont, first check that the idle screw and throttle line are properly set, then make sure all bolts on the intake manifold are properly secure, then spray starter fluid around and see if engine revs at any perticular area and fix vaccum leak.

2. I would recommend a Haynes or factory services manual.

3. No, gank it, and plug the lines.

4.Could be.

5.Naw, depending on the level of "afterburn" it may not be a problem. this could also be a intake manifold leak problem though.

Ill restate #1 , it CAN fit, but its not a straight bolt up. If you search around I know there are a couple threads on the 3 big forums that explain what all is needed.
