So i don't know how many people post **** like this but what is the weight difference between the s4 and 5? can the weight be removed? the s5 engines have more power but the s4's are still faster. but with the weight hypothetically removed would the s5 be faster? always wondered and need to know to build the ultimate 2nd gen.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

The s5 is heavier, but made more power.

The s4 is lighter, but made less power.

My s4 has an s5 motor in it, my guess would be to do the same. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

You can remove weight by taking out the back seats, carpeting in the boot, spare wheel, jack etc.

The weight diff varies between the models, but I'd say on average it is about a 200 - 300 lb increase from a S4 to a S5 on the same model. I've raced my buddies S5 TII in my AE (S4), both stock at the time, and from a dead stop I took him through 1st gear, but after that the weight didn't make much of a diff and he would pull past me. And yes, the weight can be taken out, you just got to be creative. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

but an s4 will always be lighter by atleast 200lbs, s5 have their chassis and frame reinforced. Just gonna have to follow me, my son. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

the s5's have a larger reinforcement under the dash, and those damn seat belts. thats where some of the wieght comes from

Best follow me, lol...I started with the lightest 2nd gen(almost) that they have...my car used to weigh 2578 when I bought it with me in, I weighed it again a few months ago after moddifying, etc and it was at 2460 with me in it, but it also didn't have the radiator in at the time, or the passenger seat, so who knows. I'm shooting to get below 2300lbs...but that will involve by lighterweight seats, and finish removing the entire rear interior as well as getting some lighter misc parts....400rwhp @ 2300lbs mmmmmm :bigok:

wow that is damn light, last time i weighed my car it was 2550. should be way lower now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

so can u remove the seatbelt tracts cleanly? how bout the dash reinforcement?

god i just wanna go fast but i wanna look good doin it and i think the s5 be looking so much better

1Revvin7 01-13-2003 04:29 PM

you cannot get an s5 to wiegh the same as a s4. Just get an s4 swap on the s5 body parts/a kit.

BigTurbo74 01-13-2003 04:34 PM

that is another question... does the s4 and 5 body have different lines to them? rounder fenders? and if so is it just the fenders? and if i was asking you elliot i would just ******* call you!!!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!
