Ok I'm taking my manifolds off again to clean and reseal and try and get these damn six ports working again.

I did a quick search but couldn't find it.. how do I relieve the fuel pressure at the rails. Do I leave the car running and pull the EGI COMP fuse or do I have to disconnect the fuel pump wire harness or what?

Thanks

there really isnt that much in there, we usually just pop the gas cap off. if you want though unplug the fuel pump with the motor running

well what i did is just let it poor out. Of course i had no other choice since i cant start my car. But there really isnt alot of fuel in the lines.

Alright, I just got done and test drove the car.. ****** SIX PORTS STILL DON'T OPEN!!

I changed the exhaust man gasket (doesn't leak anymore yay). I pulled the port sleeves and mani's, cleaned them, put new gaskets in with RTV, no vac leaks (yay) but these things still don't open. I cleaned the actuator rods and the tube thing that wraps around the LIM. I even blew air through it with no problem. I cleaned the actuator rods so they turn easy as butter, same with the sleeves when they're in the housings.. I have no ****** ideas left. I don't want to put an air pump in and rig it. It's cool to feel torque again but I have lost the high end I had when they were wired.

my recommendation is to try make it electronically actuated, and I don't mean using an air pump. Take a couple AAS solenoids and rig them to turn the sleeves. Then just wire up a rpm switch.

That's a great idea about AAS solenoids. I'm going to try this!

How do know they aren't working? Have you tried the grease trick?

FCmaniac 10-03-2003 08:10 AM

I didn't do the grease trick last night but the power loss up top was night and day obvious. I'll try it today but I really think there is just not enough backpressure. When I look at the way its set up I ask how the hell can they open anyway? The backpressure tube and ports to the actuators are so damn tiny.
