I need some pictures from different cars behind the clutch pedal or of the area. Kind of like this one:

Ok well ive since come to my senses and realized ill never get anyone to take a pic for me. But if i could get a few people to look on there cars and see if there is a switch on the floorboard that the clutch pedal hits when pressed in. J9 says the clutch safety switch is suppose to be in that location but in my car it is not. The manuals dont list it so im trying to figure out exactly where this thing lives.

Theres 2 clutch switches. Theyre both at the top of th epedal box, relatively close to the pivot point. Ill get you a pic of the pedal box and the 2 sensors in a few min. Theres a sensor on the front of the pedal, which goes along with the nuetral switch, and its notorious for screwing up the idle on FC's. The clutch interlock switch is on the back of the pedal box, and prevents the starter from engaging when the pedal isnt all the way to the floor.

yeah i was looking for the one that cuts the starter so i can get rid of it. Ill go out and look tommorow and see if i have the second switch on the backside but i didnt see it before.

why would u take it out? i like it. mine u have to press nice and firm againts the floor to start it. some people couldnt start it without me telling them though. i think thats cool. some of my friends would mess around and take my keys and try to start it just to be stupid but couldn't.

The clutch switch is the one that will screw up your idle if it and your nuetral switch are not both operative. If theyre both inoperative, then it wont affect it. Ill start another thread discussing this problem soon.

The interlock switch is the one that prevents the starter from engaging when the clutch isnt all the way to the floor.

I dont think '86's have the interlock though. Either that or mine was removed by the previous owner, not likely since that would be the only mod he did.
