ok I have been driving my car for about 2 weeks now. It’s a 1988 n/a. it has a mild street port, ebay filter, and race beat exhaust mufflers. What should be my next mod? I was thinking a ignition, headers, or pulleys. But im not to sure what do all of you think?

The header would prolly be best performance wise.

header and presilencer, ditch the cats and go presilencer. i ran the mazdatrix header, presilencer with an hks 60mm cat back and loved every minute i drove it and it made a sound like no other on the road. it was deep and quiet untill load was put to it and wow what a sound. as a side note the 5th and 6th port switched like an on off switch at 5800 rpm felt a real kick in the pants with that set up.

yeah once i get my suspension stuff done i am getting the header and preselincer and then just some 20 dollar ebay mufflers probably. I can't wait to hear it hahaha.

go striat back no cats no pesilancers that is how i had it and man was it the loudest meanest sounding thing in the world it sounded like a ******* indy car i loved it the people liveing beside me didnt but meh lol it was the cats ass with a peice of cake

What do you want to do with the car? If you're just looking for a loud ass lawnmower that doesn't really perform very well, just get a fart can from eBay and staright pipe it.



If you are looking for a more peformance oriented vehicle, you may want to start with brakes and suspension. Upgrade to T2 brakes, rotors, SS brake lines, and good brake pads. Suspension upgrades could be strut bars, bushings, rear steer eliminators, sway bars, struts/coilovers, etc.



You may never be able to out HP your competition, but you will be able to outperform them.



BTW - Fart cans and uncorked rotary motors draw a lot of attention from sources you may not want attention from, like cops.

i dont want it to be that loud..just want it fast. i dont need a car that handles super great just want a fast car

fast can have more than one meaning you know, in autocross your car will be faster if you have suspension stuff done, in drag your car will be faster if you go more power, it all depends. Then again IMO if ou want to drag you have the wrong car. Drag racing well requires torque, NA rotarys do not haev it.

Not with the stock engine they sure don't. Start with suspension. Not just the fact that you can take turns better, but you can stop better. If you want to go faster, you gotta be able to stop.

I vote for the header, with the presilencer if you want to keep it reasonably quiet. I have to disagree with the people that would suggest suspension upgrades on a street-driven RX-7. With decent tires and shocks, this car already handles superbly. If you're not going to be autocrossing the car, why bother?



Address the car's weaknesses. Where do you feel that your car needs improvement?

I was saying adjustable shocks and some lowering springs. Not go all out and replace EVERYTHING.

thats an oxymoron not loud and fast





when i was n/a i had the rb header presilencer, and a t2 cat back the thing was still stupid loud.

Very true. My T2 is 3" pipe from turbo back to a 3" Borla XR-1 straight-through muffler and it isn't loud.
