Ok so I replaced all my vaccume lines with silicone hoses, new fuel lines, emissions removed, ac removed, ps removed, got myself a RB downpipe and cat replacement pipe, stock catback, and did the TB mod. I have a FCD on the way here, and I was planning on getting it on the wideband then driving it like that until I get my Haltech in May.What happened was me, BigTurbo74, and 1Revvin7 had everything back together and she started right up, but was ideling a little high at 1500rpm's, so we took starter fluid to it to try and find a vaccume leak, no luck. We decided to take the uim back off and check around all over. Found a couple things I forgot to cap off, but while it was off we decided to go ahead and do the TB mod for shits. I now have it bypassed so no coolant is runnning to the tb. Just got everything back together and started it up, as soon as it starts it revs up to about 6k and my boost gauge shows 10psi all vaccume and I have to shut the car off right away. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated, and Brad maybe if you see this thread you could come over and take a look. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

This is with the throttle cable off the car. I think either something under there is keeping the throttle stuck open or you guys did something wrong on the tb mod. We should have kept playing with it. Eh maybe I will just come out again tommorrow https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

TB mod did not go right. Just like a carbereutor(spelling). Mess with that screw, you are revving up to 3000rpm on start up. But 6000rpm on start up would scare me.

ok so I found that the throotle was being held open cuz it was caught on an extra little bracket I neglected to take off the TB. Now thats all fixed. Still having some problems though. Now when I turn the car on it gradually climbs to about 4k rpms and shows 20psi vaccume on my boost gauge. I took off the front of the throttle body and the plates are closed now and the rest looks totally fine, so I dont think its got anything to do with the TB. Could the absence of coolant to the TB be making it idle high or maybe I need to just adjust the idle. I just dont want to adjust it if there really is a problem somewhere. I've checked and double checked all vaccume lines and this is now driving me crazy!

You forgot to take off the fast idle cam...

Dont listen to 1Revvin7 he tried putting low compression pistons in my 13b......lol...

Took the fast idle cam off. Has to be some huge vaccume leak somewhere, or maybe the TPS needs to be adjusted, but I don't think you can adjust the idle down from 4k with the TPS (just for fine tuning).

did you leave the thermowax on?
|
nope we took that off. we didn't touch any other idle adjustment screws but he has yet to reset his tps. but would the s5 tps system make it idle that high if it was mis-calibrated? i'm thinking some hidden leaks still have to be serviced
