I need to replace the shocks and springs in my 88 gxl. The passenger rear is completely blow out. I can't even go above 60 mph or the car gets very unstable. I want somethig cheep, and at least as good as stock. I don't want to put alot of money into my beater car. I was considering the KYB AGX from K2RD for $350, but the thought why not get something cheep like monroe or gabriel or something from a local autoparts store. Anyone have experience with these cheep shocks?

the KYB agx is a great deal. You cant beat that with a stick, and is much much better than a monroe shock.

if you have to go cheap get the non adjustable tokiko's, or stock

If you just want a cheap stock replacement, go with the Gabriels or Monroe's. On my GXL which is staying stock, I just put two new $30 monroe's in the back. They work fine. I can't say if they are "as good as OEM" since I didn't own the car back in 1986 but it's MUCH improved with a smooth ride. I have AGX's on my other 7 and obviously they are way better.

tociko hb shocks. the entire package costs $340.00 but u can shop around and get the racing beat suspension package with the springs and anti sway bars. :bigok:

Cheap shocks suck. I got some for the rear for temporary use and the car was so bouncy in the back. I would get some factory ones or tokico or kybs no adjustable to save money.

I'll probably just get the kyb agx's. They are only $350

You can hit up www.k2rd.com. They've got KYB adjustable shocks and struts for $350
I should read the entire thread before I post.... :-| |
I got sick of K2RD not answering their phone. I tried for 3 days, got pissed off and called shox.com. They were able to match the price. Came out to $380 shipped.
