Ok, car starts fine and idles at 750 but revs up slowly and lacks all power. It will go and is barely drivable. I checked the ECU and codes, the diagnostic worked and no codes were stored. I have checked ALL my sensors with a DMM and they checked out fine. Both coils check out good as well as the timing. I checked for intake leaks/blockages, all good there. Turbo spools up fine. The throttle cable is tight. Fuses are good. Plugs are good.

Got my injectors cleaned and pressure tested, they're good. Fuel filter is new. O2 sensor is new. Oil pressure is great. Compression is good.

For a long time, I thought my big fuel pump was causing my problem. Now I'm back to stock. Upon intalling the stock pump the car started up and ran AWESOME, like it should. Quick-revving, plenty of power. BUT after running for a short time, the car went back to its sluggish, no power self.

I am thinking my stock FPR or PD might be broken. The reason I say this is because after releasing the hold pressure to install the stock pump, everything worked for a short time. Then the system repressurized causing something to not work AGAIN. However, I could not re-create the conditions.

I'm in the process of checking the fuel pressure while at idle, but can anybody offer any other ideas? I hate to ask, but I'm really at a loss for what's going on here and there aren't any shops around here that will work on rotories.

Thanks for any help

Mike

Mazdatrix sells that pressure bleeder for the fuel lines to stop flooding...it might work to test your theory, but I'm not sure.

I'm reaching here, but I wonder if the return line to your tank is somehow plugged or is causing a vaccum?

This is one of those odd fuzzy thoughts that I can't place but wants to get out so https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I thought maybe my AFM might be malfunctioning in some way, however the DMM readings show its good. I'm wondering if the slide is getting hung up on something? I just have NO clue.

Well I tryed RD's idea to no avail. I'm still gonna check the fuel pressure, though. I really think that damn fpr is stuck open or closed or whatever. When I pulled the return line, I ran it to a gas can and let the car run for about 5 minutes. It hardly put any gas in the can. Whatever that means.

Unless you just wanna give me yours vosko! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif I already told Rotaryman88 I'd buy his from him. Thanks though.

I'd think it should have put back a good chunk of fuel but I could well be wrong

Do you have the stock regulator?

13BAce 07-26-2002 08:33 PM

Just check the fuel pressure before you do anything else. I've seen regulators fail and hold ALOT of fuel.

Well, the preliminary results of the fuel pressure check show the pressure at 35 psi during idle and a hold pressure of about 19 psi, while the car is off.

I figure those numbers are pretty good. Next comes the injector wiring, again https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
