I have an 87 13bt I recently bought from a friend which was a good running motor at the time, the first night I put it in and took it around the block it was boosting great, then next thing I know is water shoots out from the engine bay onto the windshield ( I did not have my hood on ) so I stop and let it cool. there was water in it when I started it up. I think I got screwed over, but not sure cause he is a pretty good friend, I dont think he would screw me. But any ways every time I would start it up it would take like 10 min to get it started and when I would drive it I would overheat very shorly on a drive to the gas station. So I decided I need to rebuild it, I have it all apart right now and the housings and everything look to be in really good shape. I am gonna do a mild rebuild but I dont want to put it all back together to find out that the housings are warped and the coolant rings will fail shortly after that, so does anyone know if housings can be milled if they are warped, or what is the best method to determine if they are warped, any help is appreciated, Thanks

not to sound like a broken record but the Factory Service MAnual SHOWS you how to check

Are you sure it was coming off the motor and not like a heater core line? Since thats at the firewall and would spray on the windshield with no hood?

Imagine if you took that motor apart when it was just a heater core hose? That would suck.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Seriously though never heard too often of the engine losing a coolant seal and actually spraying it in the air.......

Maybe I was not very clear https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif , the motor is bad for sure. the water that shot out came from the overflow tank and the radiator fillerneck. the water in the block has a thin white milky look to it (oil in the water) and when the thermostat opens and it reaches a way high pressure and blows out of the overflow. The motor almost intantly overheats after one quick trip around the block. So when i took it apart I found that the intermediate housing is cracked between the water jacket and the combustion chamber. Its taken care of and I have another intermediate housing. I just want some good techniques for determining if rotor housings are warped. thats all, thanks

damn dude: The FSM shows the CORRECT technique.
