Lets see, this past weekend i put a new 13b engine in my 86 rx7 gxl. it started, but it didnt stay running. the engine is LOUD! why is it loud, i have 3aracing exhausts and before putting the engine in, it sounded nice. what could be the problem? Also, when it does start and i press on the gas it bogs down, or cuts out. whats wrong? could it be because some connecters might not be in place? or in the right place? please pm me or post asap!

Thank You All In Advance,

Randy

So with your old engine it sounded fine, now with you new engine and the same exhaust it is really loud? You probably have an exhaust leak. So when you step on the gas at any rpms it bogs? Sounds like its not getting fuel, check your fuel pressure first, have you done the rest of the maintence on the car? Fuel filters/plugs etc...

Theres alot of different variables considering this is a newly installed motor but i will agree with what 1revvin said you may also want to check all the vacum lines.

yea, one of the vacuum lins broke, and when we had my other rx7 also an 86 started, we unhooked the line that broke and it didnt make a difference. and as far as plugs go yes they are new, ill check the fuel filter, what else should i check?

thanks

Randy

the new engine needs to be broke in too, hows it idling? it should idle at about 1500 rpm for the first couple hundred miles until everything is seated and broke in and then it should idle at normal 750 rpm, definately replace your fuel filter,if you can get it started just let it idle for a couple hours, it kinda sounds like your getting to much gas, possibly check your TPS sensor? what all did you re-use from your old engine?

Check your timing. If theres no idle it could be the timing.
