I took a stab at installing these guage faces today. The instructions just tell you to remove the panel with wiper and light controls with the 3 screws up top inside. Well I did that and can't get it out over the plastic trim piece in front of the steering wheel. Then I looked in the Haynes manual which says to pull the steering wheel! I guess I have to rent a steering wheel puller now...

Is it absolutely necessary to pull the steering wheel for this job?

No, but it helps

i think it's a 19mm socket

No steering wheel removal needed

Remove the steering column covers, (2) cover, 4 screws.

remove the wiper/headlight black surround panel. 3 screws in the inside top, 2 screws in the underneath, one on each end. Pull out a little, unplug wires from switches, panels off.

Guage panel has 4 screws, 2 on each side and lleft and right. Pull out a little, unplug the rear plugs out and the speedo cable, bang. you are done.

Should only take 5 to 10 minutes to take out.

S4 guage is hold on by 4 screws but s5 is only hold on by clips. Becareful, the plastic just brakes.

Its a 21mm socket, and no puller is needed. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Well, they're in and they look great. It was a walk in the park. Turborotor's directions were on the money.

The only problem is I can't get the indiglo lighting to work. Its very simple, just a positive wire they tell you to tap into the headlight wire, a ground, and a switch for blue/green tint. The ground is good and I wired the power wire into the illumination for the cigarette lighter and they do not glow. I stopped to watch football.

I'm not sure why it would make a difference whether I tap into parking lights or headlights but maybe that's the prob?? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif
