Ok, I believe these are both relays (#1 and #2) but I'm trying to figure out what they do so I can remove one if I don't need it anymore.

I was told that one was a main motor relay, and the other was a relay for the a/c, but the person I talked to didn't know which was which. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

thanks for the help

i'm wiring my wolf up, and want to put my starter solenoid in the place of one of those, but it looks like I might have to get creative

How many wires are coming out of it? I'm sure theres some way of bypassing it...

1Revvin7 10-06-2003 09:51 PM

Bigturbo's car has that relay, and no alarm. But its possible someone removed it, but it has to be for the alarm. I wonder why the hell the signal wire goes to the Powersteering fuse under the dash https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

pengaru 10-06-2003 10:09 PM

I believe it's the relay the security system uses to disable the starter. On the cars with no alarm that connector has a jumper on it. If my memory is correct the jumper is a blue connector with a black wire just looped around closing the start circuit.

I can't go check in person though, this is all history on my car.

mazdadrifter 10-06-2003 10:21 PM

k let me get this straight, the egi relay controls the injectors and other fuel functions (possibly ignition as well) well since I'm using a whole new ecu is that relay obsolete??

because the powersteering fuse gets power when you go to crank the engine, with the alarm set it (start cut) has to wait to see someone cranking the engine.

a good sign of someone cranking the engine is if power steering is getting power, wala use the powersteering fuse.

thats my theory https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

Interesting, I dont think i have that #2 relay. I'll have to check my car.

the main relay supplies 12v power to almost everything in the car. i dunno about the wolf but the haltech harness has its own relays for that, so it mostly bypasses it.

update: the starter cut relay. i unplugged it and car no crank. looks like its a normally closed relay and the alarm can open it if it thinks your a thief

mike

mazdadrifter 10-07-2003 01:24 PM

i owe u a beer, thanks!!!!

I guess you could always bypass it, but that's probably not the safest thing to do

HMMM hehe ****! gotta figure out howto put that **** back in..

1Revvin7 10-07-2003 02:35 PM

Thats also the Trailing coils... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

pengaru 10-07-2003 03:29 PM

you gotta keep the big relay, but the smaller black one just ditch it and bypass. It's bypassed stock with a jumper plug on cars with no security system like i said above.
