i have 91 coupe with TII motor. N/A tranny is starting to scrape. am i able to just do the TII trany swap without the drive shaft and rear diff/axles?

oh..and i recenctly put my clutch in. its an N/A clutch and flywheel. so would i need a TII flywheel and clutch too. or will the tranny just mount up???

As you are probably aware the Turbo II flywheel is larger and the Turbo II transmission is beefer. It has side ribbing and I'm sure the internals are stronger as well.

I'm sure someone will correct me here, but I'm not sure the rear end between a N/A and Turbo is different, other than gearing and LSD.

You need a TII flywheel and clutch.

You can get a custom driveshaft from mazdatrix to make the TII trans work with the n/a diff.

Any N/A transmission after about 87 has ribbing on the case. But not the same trans as a TII.

so my best bet is to just get the complete drivetrain. damn it...

Why, plan on making lots of power?

sen2two 04-16-2007 11:44 AM

ehhhh.....300 or slightly better.

the N/A drive train cant take that for too long. and the tranny already scrapes in second.

scrapes in second is a wear/driver problem, it has nothing to do with the amount of power you're making.

yeah...its worn from throwing second. it cant handle the power of cathing gears for to long.

hence wanting to upgrade to the TII...
