I'm on my 2nd rx7 now and like my first one its throwing curves at me. I prev. had an 84 gsl-se and was happy with it. I recently picked up a 90 convertible because of price and condition of the car. I'm already noticing things. What exactly does this car come with factory? I have 4 piston front brakes where I thought I would find singles. The lady that had it before me blew a coolant hose and decided to drive it home anyway. She ended up selling the car to a friend who owns a local shop and he dropped in a completely rebuilt engine from a low mile but wrecked 91 convertible (might have been 90 as well). I plan on picking up a t2 in the next year or so but until then what can I do to make this thing not feel like my friends integra? What kind of power can I extract from the stock powerplant without a turbo or juice? What is the order in which I should upgrade this thing? If you read all this you gotta be pretty patient so if you could give specific parts that you know are quality I would appreciate it. The only thing I don't need is intake, my local shop makes a cold air unit for it. I already ordered a bonez highflow cat, and I was thinking of either a racingbeat or apexi gt cat-back.. whoah too much to read.. feedback would be appreciated

On the catback system, it just depends on if you want to be loud, or just gain power. The RB system is a nice one, and kinda pricey but pretty quiet. The GT from A'PEXi is top notch, but loud. It does however come with a silencer, but that kills quite a bit of power. That is about it for basic mods. You can install a 50shot NOS kit from Summit or Jegs pretty cheaply and that feels pretty nice. But you said no juice, so...

The verts all have 4 pot brakes (heavy car). The also all have aluminum hoods from what I have heard and seen.

Now that I think about it more, you could also install an electric fan, for quicker revs and install a lightweight flywheel for quite a gain in power.

4.30 rear end really brings a vert to life too

So far i'm going with bonez cat, apex gt exhaust, act clutch, balancing the stock flywheel and clutch (I want the launches), cold air, racing beat ignition, larger injectors, and doing things to lose weight like taking out the stock seats and sound deadening material. I'm going to talk with the shop down here about lighter rotors and other internal engine mods. From what I have heard haltech makes a pretty good fuel controller. Is there some kind of magic setup for a NA car?
