I see some chatter marks...

Look for small cracks around the spark plug holes, or any scratches..

by feeling with my hand there are no scracthes on either housing. there are no cracks around the spark plug holes. I will get some more detaild pics.

E shaft looks good. how can i tell if the main bearings are worn? I left the rotors soaking in ATF over night.

No there are chatter marks, not those huge ones that appear to be reflections BOY. They look reuseable to me..... Came out of a running engine right?

Yeah the motor ran it just over heated. I saw where the problem was when I took it apart the coolant seals had hardened in a couple spots. It did have great power though.

Apex13B 09-01-2003 11:20 PM

housing in the above pic has a score in it, its junk

BigTurbo74 09-02-2003 12:24 AM

haha holy **** u are right, i didn't even see that..wow, umm yeah check if other one is warped too..

RX7 13B 4 UR AZZ 09-02-2003 08:26 AM

what does the score look like? cand someone draw a circle around it.

j9fd3s 09-02-2003 10:43 AM

one circle

1987rx7guy 09-02-2003 12:37 PM

Thats where the corner peice of the apex seal digs into the housing. All used housings comming off of engines with stock mazda seals will have that. :(

yes, but that doesnt mean you can reuse it

mike

1987rx7guy 09-02-2003 01:23 PM

j9fd3s- I never said they were re-usable. I was just adding to the information and from what I know the corner peice is what creats that scoring on all stock engine's housings. It sucks that mazda had to make seals like that. I beleive two peice seals don't do that but take longer to break in with used housings.

RX7 13B 4 UR AZZ 09-02-2003 07:59 PM

so can I reuse them or polish them up and use them for my crab homes? lol if it digs in there with the original seals Why would I not be able to reuse them?
