So you're saying that when you turn the key to the "start" position, the starter does not engage or run? Other times it works fine?

My guess is a bad starter/solenoid or faulty wiring to the starter.

Corroded wire to the starter or bad solenoid (which in this day and age means replacing the starter).

For the record I've had HORRIBLE luck with rebuilt starters, I finally started buying brand new Bosch starters for a bit more and it's been a much better experience LOL

I didnt do anything to it and today it starts right away every try, so would that be just some faulty wiring??

I concur, main positive wire to starter probably rubbed through the insulation and is grounding its self out.

Re: my car only starts sometimes

I had a problem with no start or click for many years and solved it yesterday. Worth a try. Run a jumper cable from the battery ground to the top of the block. My car was lacking a good enough ground. Works now so I ran a permanent
cable now.
