I am talking of my S4 N/A Motor. I am not having problems with it.. i am just bored and would like to try something...

I am going to Mount the Mass airflow sensor directly to the throttle body itself. I have done the throttle body mod (which i love) ... i have removed the charcol canister, cold start assist, and cruise control from my car. So i now have this LARGE gap in that area of the engine bay.

i will design a heat shield to go under the filter to protect it from exhaust area heat... i am wondering if this will work. Will i run into lean/rich problems? I am really just looking for opinions... if this works, i will let you guys know and take pictures... if it doesnt work than i will let you guys know, and take pictures..

I am also going to raise the rear of the hood along with this Short ram intake mod. to try and see if i can get cowl induction. (discussed in an earlier post)

ANY input would be great, as well as opinions or possible problems i will run into.

thanks

-Markus

Bump... any words of wisdom?

I don't see any point other than lessening the possibiity of vacuum leaks in the ducting from the stock AFM location to the throttle body, which isnt really a problematic vacuum leak area.

I'm going to have to say most people who claim to have major gains from doing things like this are probably seeing improvements due to eliminating vacuum leaks in the process, probably without even realizing it.

I've watched my AFM while revving my engine (take the cover off) and there is no significant latency in the AFM so it shouldnt effect response largely, provided your duct is rigid and free of leaks.

I took a movie of my AFM before I switched to a E6K after building my engine, this was one of the first times it ran... you can see the internals of the AFM and hear the engine, also in sight are the TPS calibration LED's.
