Ok i got the right tranny mount, s4 T2. So how do i bolt it the tranny, where do the mounts go? Im lost. It fits just don't bolt it. Its just sitting there.

new vs old, old in front(s5t2) and the s5t2 Y-section in off to the side. I need an s4 Ysection i believe.
|
u prolly got it in backwards.....like always :squint:
|
you need the y thingee

If anyones got one let me know.

I can't believe this ****. SO i got the right Y section. Now i have all the right parts, and i figured out why they changed the tranny mount design in the s5, the s4 are horribly designed! So i go to bolt the Y section to the tranny, got it started, then I goto attach the crossmember, won't fit since you have to have the mounts bolted to the crossmember before bolted them to the Y section. OK easy right, nope you can;t bolt the mounts to the Y section after you have bolted the Y section to the tranny, can't get a wrecnch in there to tighten the bolts. OK so i got it,put the bastard together then bolt it to the tranny, well the ******* bolts that goto the tranny are inbetween the Y section and the crossmember, so the only way is to use an open end. The ******* bolts are corroded as hell and takes me a half hour to get them almost tightened, then it starts to get hard as ****. Then they snap. OK so i gotta ******* spot tig weld this bastard Y section to the Tranny, hope i don't have to ever replace any of this **** again, since it will be a lot harder. So now i have blow about $150 getting the right ******* parts, more than i spent on the tranny, endless hours of ******* around on the net and under the car trying to figure this out. My god.

damn, sorry to hear that.
sounds like i'm not the only one that has problems like these https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
You need to invest in a bench grinder/wire wheel combo, clean all your threads
and apply some anti-seize or even grease to them before assembly, a metric tap and die set would be a good idea as well so you can clean the threads of the bolts and where they are being mounted. These would have paid for themselves already in your case. Live and learn https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
ahah, whoops, maybe I should learn how to use the tap set. I have one
|
**** that sucks!!
I buy tools for certain projects and forget I even have them until after I've used the wrong ****** tool and wasted hours and lost pints of blood.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif |
I use my tap & die set at least once every time I go in the garage, I think it's the most used tool I have.
clean threads are a joy to work with, and anti-seize does wonders for when you have to take things apart next time. |
well guess what, I went to weld, and dammit, the tranny is aluminum and the Y section is iron, I was able to weld it at low amps, but I won't hold. I'm gonna have to use this JB weld type stuff, its the same deal, a chemical weld but a lot stronger, the best on the market. Ah more fun..

why not pull off the mount, clean up the welding mess, and get the busted bolts out. go get some new bolts and do it right? with all the time, money, and effort you're putting into this swap I would imagine that you want it done nicely.... you should be able to get the bolts out and clean up the threads then get new ones. |
I'm just so sick of this stupid mount, its unreal. Maybe I will just put new bolts in.

Now take the time and remove it and make it right, you dont mess with a transmission mount, its not a pair of speakers or some **** your dealing with here. Too often in a project people get frustrated and do a hack job, just relax and gather yourself together. Take a break perhaps. |

Relax and think about what you just said you were going to do.
