the thought of getting a nice T II has crossed mind---- but its his first car ever and hes kinda sentimentally attached to it.......its hard to explain....plus it gives him a chance to rebuild it...ie work on his car

Tell him to get over the sentiment and get a running TII, I estimate if you even take on such a project, the car would be lucky to be running in 6 months, if it ever ran again period. You will probably dump close to $5000 into it, not to mention the amount of hours in research and mechanical hours working on the car, finding a kit, converting to carburator, drivetrain issues, fuel delivery issues, and still not be emmisions legal. Oh but the results will be worth it, youll end up with 200 hp instead of the stock 146. Take the advice of those who have been there, and get something else if he wants to go faster.
I would consider the conversion between auto to manual if the computer didnt control the auto trans... As far a a supercharger goes, forget it, its not worth it. Spend 500 of the 2500 you would have spent on an SC, Nos the sob and enjoy the n/a till it pops. In the meantime find a decent TII, spend the money there.

Well first fix your shift key.

Second, supercharging a 7 is a pain in the rump to do, not very many examples of it and you have to figure that the main advantage of the supercharger is that it provides boost at the low end..something an RX-7 doesn' t have much of to start with.

You don't have to carb a supercharger, it'll work with fuel injection if you can find a map or unit that will support it. Again, uncharted waters do you have the money to blow one up?

There's also issues with belt routing, beating the piss out of the e-shaft and a few other odds and ends.

Doing a turbo is cheaper and more effective. That being said if you're hell bent on it I'm told that Atikins is moving their kit to the 13B, they have a decent kit for the 12A as it sits.

Yea I understand that, I was referring closer to the end product. Meaning you are going to put a ton of money into a car with a Supercharger that will produce how much HP?

Seems like a lot of work for something that will closely resemble a T2 in performance... just a thought. You are going to spend $2500 on a supercharger that will increase hp "30%" when you could buy a t2, spend half that on an upgraded or even less on a hybrid and blow the doors off the superchared model. Plus no drivetrain swap, no carb/FI swap and a shitload less work.. but that is just my opinion.

lets expand on that phins. we take the equation work=bad.

putting supercharger on car= work= bad

buying t2= easy= good

To convert to a supercharged carb setup, after the cost for the blower and carb itself, you would need a custom intake, that TII tranny, and optimally, TII rotors.

blower cost + carb + intake (which will be expensive) + TII tranny = only as fast a stock tII probably since if you didnt rebuild with TII rotors you couldnt run much boost without detonating.

Or for about the same cost, he could break himself from the car, and find a really clean low mileage TII, and already have a fast car, plus all the other TII goodies installed already.

Dont get me wrong, sounds like a great project, but he might lose that sentiment for the car when he spends so much and gets whomped by a lightly modded TII.

Let us know what happens either way https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I was going to SC my 91 block but it was going to cost $450.00 for the Holy 600 carb that supports the SC and the SC it self was $2195.00 I think
