Well after reading over all the oil threads..etc I decided on getting Mobil 1 10W30.

Though when I rang up Mobil... the guy said "ooooh... thats too thin for your car,

you should get 5W50"

So now im confused, what do you guys think?

temperatures range from 20 to 45 degrees celcius here.

i would use the wieght of oil mazda recommends for that temp. usually that ends up being 10w-40 or 20w-50

good advice, alot of people just run thicker oil and THINK they are helping the engine becuase the oil pressure gauge is reading higher, meanwhile its just because the oil is having a harder time getting thru the engine hence the reason for the high readings.

Go with what Mazda says.

You don't wnat something as spread out as 5w50, you want something that will not have a large viscosity change over a wide temperature range. You want to stick to something like 20w50 no more than a 30w spread. The less spread their is the more stable the oil is.

Going to synth shouldn't change the viscosity index of the oil you are using. How many miles you have on the engine? I would either run what the manual says or run what you have been running in the past.

the reason i ask is i helped (kinda) do a swap from a vtech integra motor to a 91 civic si and the guy had special oil and coolant from honda. what a nut. btw thats the last time i touch a honda because the car was salvage and when we took of the front tires and bumpers there were ******* black widows and their nests there. they must like killing hondas or something. ******* almost got bit by one before we even knew they were there cause i stuck my hand in the gap between the bumper to take out the head light and didnt see one until we got the headlight out. freaky. and sorry for littering ur thread
