Which is the best to run on a TII? A manual boost controller and an electrical boost controller?

Which are some good companies for either one?

MazdaEnthused 06-22-2003 01:23 PM

and how hard is it to wire a boost controller... and about how long does it take

Apex13B 06-22-2003 01:45 PM

Manual boost controllers are made by turbonetics, and turbo XS. They have spiking issues and i dont suggest them for a T2.

Go for the Greddy Profec-B EBC, i've used them on VW's and turbo hondas and they are great, and give you a nice, flat boost response

Yes! The Profec B all the way! It's simple and reliable. No extra frills you don't need. They take about an hour or so to intall. But if you do get anything to play with your boost, take care of the fuel mods first. A Walbro 255lph fuel pump and a FCD should take care of your car is mildly tuned. If you want to run more air through the engine, make sure there will be enough fuel for it first.

EBC's perform MUCH better than any MBC. They hold the wastegate shut until the desired pressure is reached. MBC's don't do this as precisely as EBC's do.

once again disagree, there was a topic like this already but remember that there are TWO kinds of manual boost controler. What you want is a ball and spring like the joeP. It won't let the wastegate see boost until the pressure is at specified level. If you can afford it or need to adjust alot go with EBC, MBC is what i use and i've never had a problem with spikes or anything and i have to say that a ball and spring opens faster than an EBC.

Control the boost? why...just weld the WG shut https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

No...but I like the MBC better...simplistic and a lot cheaper...

If you have the mens and the desire, get a EBC. I chose the Profec-B because of it's lack of frills, and reliability. I have two settings, the cruise around town, and at the push of a button, camaro swatter. Then again, I have my AFC set the same way. In cruise mode, I am useing less fuel, but the touch of a button, I am where I need it not to lean out.

MBC's are GREAT if you are just running around at one boost setting. For me, with the T04b, I don't want to roll around at such a high boost every day.
