When my 87 GXL has been sitting for a while in the hot Texas sun (over 100 degrees) the starter does something peculiar. I am not sure if it is a problem developing so I thought I would ask.

When I turn the key to start, the starter hesitates for a second then the car starts. So basically I turn the key for a quick moment and I mean maybe not even a second, the car does not crank Then it starts just fine. This only happens when it sits in the heat. If it is hot from driving and I stop at a store or something for a second then come back out and start the car, it does not happen. Very strange.

I thought I would ask if this is possibly a problem brewing that I should look into? I would hate to get stranded somewhere in this Texas sun. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif

Thanks.

i think this is due to extra resistance between the ignition switch and the starter solenoid. over time the clutch switch gets old and then you get the hestitation to crank and the clicks and stuff.
