Your car came stock with a viscous LSD which only works when the inside wheel starts to lose traction and spin. Viscous LSDs basically add friction when the wheel spins, not before. The usual upgrade LSD for second gens is a Torsen. You can find them on Ebay for a couple hundred bucks. Installation is a long, difficult process, so expect six to 10 hours of shop time added to the cost.

it's not that long and difficult, if I were you I'd just get a S4 clutch type LSD, get the whole unit and you won't have to mess with anything, just swap it in.

S4 T2 are great..... i have one in my FD!
eventually if my T2 ever drives i'll switch https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
How much for the S4 clutch type LSD?

Here is a little write-up I did on the other forum when I swapped a torsen LSD into my 4.3 GTUs rear end...:
http://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.ph...threadid=203671 Make sure to read all the way through it. You would use either a S4 Turbo2 clutch type rear end, or swap in a torsen LSD from an FD. Either one of which are worlds better than the viscous unit. As for price.. here is a post someone selling a S4 LSD: http://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.ph...threadid=227590 Ive seen them for cheaper, or you could pick up an FD torsen for about the same price probably... |
if you want it to be easy, you can probably get the whole assembly from a S4 T2, put new oil in it, and install. Then you get to avoid dealing with the backlash etc.
