hey i have a 1990 gtu... my name is nick and im 17.. for one i have an exhaust leak.. i wanna know what size stock the stock exhaust pipes are... alsoa good catback system i can put in until i can afford the rest of the exhaust system.... how bout any ideas on a cold air intake?.....id like my engine to breathe a lil better so im lookin for that and also the slotted head light covers and slotted hood.... are there any kits or wheels you guys recommend for an fc3s? what size wheels should i go with?.......also.. when i turn too many electrical things on.. my rpms drop to around 400 or a lil less.. how come is that and how could i go about fixing that problem... i dont have any extra amps or speakers that could be robbing voltage.. even if i turn the head lights on it happens.... help!

Skip the "performance enhancements" until you have got the car running 100% to your satisfication. It is easier to diagnose and troubleshoot before you go bolting a bunch of crap on.



The RPM drop sounds like a faulty BAC valve, but test it first.



Remember the stock 80amp alternator was marginal when new, at meeting the demands of the FC's electrical system. Have your alternator tested. A good upgrade is the 89 and up, or the FD alternator

Its only 320$ shipped and bolts to the stock cat. Also make sure you 6 port injection actuators are working.

Here is the deal. The rotary engine has so little torque at idle that half of the stuff on top of the motor is for idle speed control.

The BAC is the main controller of idle speed but it needs help with suddenly switching loads like headlights or AC or heater fan on high. These accessories have signals to the ECU to open a vacuum bleed solenoid to help out.

That is why the idle tune up is so complex.

The bypass air control (a duty solenoid) is responsible for all other loads (like your stereo).

I had a big improvement show when I replaced the firewall to bell housing ground and added an alternator to body ground. If those grounds are not perfect, the ECU’s sensor grounds try to carry some of the spark & alternator load. The ECU tries to recalibrate & goes nuts.

The short range TPS:

Its job is to tell the ECU you’re at closed throttle.

If it is out of adjustment, the ECU may not activate the BAC to handle idle speed.

Banzai is almighty. Seriously, don't **** up like I did and not replace all the right parts to have the car running in better shape. CHECK OIL COOLER LINES!
