i just bought and adapter and a went and got a cone spectra filter from auto zone and now i can spin the tires in the 1st with out having to dump or slip the clutch or anything;after 5k the break loose, its sooo awsome... and i'm having my paint job done soon just did some of the body work today... (sanding... and fiberglass fill) so i'll post pics after i got off of work today (bed bath and beyond ... LOL) but thank you for all of you guyz' help

good deal, now you just need some sticky tires https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Interesting . . thanks for posting this. I never knew if unshielded cone filters were any better than the stock snorkel box because my FC already had this mod when I bought it. And it would roast the tires a little too easily in first gear for my skill level; front wheel drive is all I have ever driven.
I do know, however, that just smoothing over the edges of the cone filter's adapter on the air flow meter makes an improvement in the midrange power and throttle response. Some adapters don't even match the afm's opening shape at all and need to be trimmed. |

I think a basic WAI would make more of a diff on a T2 vs NA.. that's probably why he felt it or his old filter was just that restricted
|
ya know i did notice that the old filter was SHOT!!!! so i could've just gained more HP then normal because it freed some origanal horse power...
|
i need to put a cone on my car i think its about time, where can i get the adapter and what size cone do i need???
|
You can buy a cheap adapter on Ebay. I bought one including a K@N filter for 49$ a while back.
|
autozone spectra comes in couple diff.. .colors and its 25 bucks plus the breather for you air pump (10 dolors)

this is how it looks must say it looks pretty cool if anything

NIce work buddy. YOu can take the snorkel off now though. It isn't doing anything anymore since it isn't sealed to the stock box anymore. I would suggest getting a K&N filter for that since those 25 dollar filters(I have used them) arent that good. K&N is re-usable and flows more.
BTW yall I currently make Cold Air Intakes for N/a's and I am working on one for the TII there is a link in my signiature if you lick it it will take you all to our site. Check it out and shoot us an e-mail :-D Santiago |
no i figure that the snorkle has a purpose as the air origonaly came from that spot so i think that i could still be feeding a little bit of air over the filter
|
take the hose off the airpump, and put the filter right on the airpump.
will look a lil less ghetto. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |

I only have one problem with your air intakes, 1987rx7guy, the piping is aluminum. You would actually get better performance if u used hardend [;astic for piping.
When the motor heats up so will that aluminum tube, warming up the air flowing through it. If you use plastic it wont heat up the air as much and u will get a more true "cold air" intake, and thus get better performance. |

Anyhow I would rather have the same kind of pipes(metal) that TII's use for intecooler piping. They will last longer and NOT deform. I had a Carbon fiber heat shield(you all call them cold air boxes right...) and it began to deform because of the heat. Metal will not deform nearly as much as plastic. I am running tests with rfour intakes and I will bring the results to you all via our site or a thread but I stand by our intake 100%. Santiago |

is the AFM just lying there? i cant see any brackets
|
there was no brakets it was just stabilized with the bots from the OEM intake set up
|
you need to make brackets that Afm is expensive
|
I took mine off due to heat soak, engine usually started to detonate up inclines doing 65 in 85 deg heat. Ya need to put a cold air box on there if you live in a warm climate.
|
well now its not so hot anymore but how am i supose to make brakets? the AFM isn't moving anywhere... the filter is somwhat wedged in between somthing so its really doesn't move at all
|
what does the AFM do anyway?

It determines how much air is being pulled into the engine, then sends a signal to the ECU, basically defining the engine speed. Also, if it ever closes (meaning, the rotors stop spinning and there is no air being pulled) it kills the fuel pump, because it assumes that the engine has died. They need to be mounted as close to horizontal as possible, otherwise gravity will pull on the flapper door weird, and the registered airspeed will be different that what the engine needs. They are VERY expensive (something like $250 from Madzatrix). The 1980s era Jap cars often use the same looking AFM, but the internal electronics varies even among identical looking units. My 88 Toyota 4Runner has one that is basically exactly the same as the Seven's, but the output voltage/resistance is different. |

ahh, thas why i don't recognize it. i don't have an airpump =T

pumps air to... the only think i know that it does is pump air to the exhaust (cat.)
