so what happend with the atkins motor? 430 is definatley possible.

Rotaryman88 12-09-2002 09:31 PM

nothing happened to the motor...i ment send my blown jspec core back to atkins for the refund.

If they wont take it (its past the 90 day return limit) then my buddy is gonna give me $350 for it and rebuild it...and run a carb/turbo setup and drop it in his miata :bigok:

that sounds nice

GT 35/40? Isn't that a little big for a second gen? What about the gt30 or gt28? Wouldn't those offer the same power with less lag? I know you probably know way more than I do about this subject, but I'm trying to learn. If you would please explain why the GT35/40 would be better than these two turbos for the 2nd? I also want to know because I will be in the market for a better turbo kit soon. Also do they offer this in a kit for 2nd gens? If so, where? Thanks.

The kit should be universal for the FC and FD rx's.I've seen many kits for the big single turbo setups and they say that it'll fit either.I personally like the GT3540 and wish to own one on another project one day.But yeah I think a GT30 setup would be better for regular driving.

i think a t100 is all you need, lol!

Rotaryman88 12-10-2002 09:09 PM

I'm going with the GT35/40 for a few different reasons. This is only the first half of my project for SE-X....after the motor work is all done, I am doing suspension...and then body work...that is all I have time for to make it in the next season of IMSTAR(body work will probably not be done by then though)...and once that season is over, and I pay off some bills...I'm pulling the motor again, getting it bridgeported/pinned/3mm ceramic seals and some other goodies...and reusing the GT35/40...I am buying it now to save time. The car will not be a DD...so lag really isnt an issue. Especially w/ the porting on my motor..boost will come on at about 2300 and rise steadily and keep a good strong boost til after 8K...which is important to me. Also, the turbo is reliable, uses a dual ball bearing setup, and yes....there is a prefab kit available through the guys at www.fcpower.com but I'm not sure If I'm gonna go that way w/ them...the manifold doesn't seem to be of the best design and I want to see some test numbers done before getting it from them.

7mech 12-11-2002 05:14 AM

Cool thanks. I was hoping there were some prefab kits out there. This really increases my options and gets me even closer to my goal of about 430 hp to the wheels and still a daily driver.

Rotaryman88 12-11-2002 08:16 PM

Well, like I said in my other response...the SE-X won't be a daily driver...and that is one reason I am going w/ the GT35/40...if you want good streetability..the gt35/40 may be a little overkill....if you look at the pt turbo kit that fcpower.com offers...it would be better suited for the street..
