Well, I just spent about 4 hours searching this forum, the evil forum, fc3s.org, and, teamfc3s.org forum to find what ppl have done to get rid of their ACV's and Airpumps.



All my searching has yeilded many various set-up's that have been tried...but none are satisfactory to me.



This is what I want to accomplish - A 100% electric 6port and VDI setup. No air pump, no ACV, and no cadilac or corvette air compressor.



Here's where I need help. I have a theoretic system in mind, however, I do not know if the parts I am seeking are available (or if they are what they are called or where to obtain them) I'm hoping that thise among us that are more technical can assit in that.



I want to remove the actuators (all 3 of them) and replace then with solenids. These solenoids would need to be about the size of the stock air actuator so that a custom bracket can be developed and bolted to the stock location to activate the 6 port sleeves and teh VDI. So these soleniods would simply take the signal from the ECU (which is sent to the stock air solenoid valves) and use that rpm signal to close a 30amp relay which would give the power to the solenoid and thus push open the 6 port and VDI at the prescribed RPM.



As the rpm's drop, the ecu would discontinue its signal, deactivate the relay, and the solenoid would spring back to its original resting position, thus closing the 6 port and VDI.



Ok...obviously, I will need proper solenoids, and custom brackets. Where can I get such solenoids? Does my system seem like it will work? Any other ideas or observations, suggestions? A summit rpm switch may be used to get a signal for those who choose to go that route. However, two would be required for 6 ports and VDI.

I have my AAS solenoids sitting in the corner waiting for this project, they're electric rotary solenoids and are probably a perfect match for this job, just a bit heavy.

You need to decide wether you want to use linear (plunge) solenoids or rotational ones. You might not even need the relays (solenoids this small would be ok run on the primary wiring). Mounting would be easy, just requires a custom block made.



Since we're on the subject of new ideas for air pump removal, why not put a dead pulley in place of the air-pump? It would be nearly no paresitic loss, and would negate the need for a dual-pulley system for the water pump (which costs $$$ and apparently is not foolproof). Use the stock air-pump pulley, mounted like the PS and AC dead pulleys (with screw tensioner).
