I need some help and opinions on what is a better set up for my car its a 87 n/a with new cluth and some other stuff, I have heard that ground control's coil over sleeves are rather good for the price and all, but these k2rd coilovers seem really like a better deal price wise and the fact that i think they come with new pillow ball mounts, or am i wrong, i know it says does not come with shocks. can anyone help out and give some opinions and what not , thanks in advance

oh and what about rs*r springs are they any good?? thanks again

phinsup 08-01-2003 06:39 PM

Well to be honest they are basically the same. You'll need the front camber plates as well on either if you want any adjustment.

phinsup 08-01-2003 06:40 PM

I prefer K2RD for obvious reasons, A) I sell their parts B) I know the people who run the joint and they's good people that stand behind their products. That means more then price to me ANY day.

Rotaryman88 08-01-2003 06:43 PM

keep on pushin them products phins, lol...

he's right though...they are really similar..both companies have a good rep and both back their product well. I'm going w/ the K2s because the price is better, and I plan on getting other K2 stuff...i like to keep to the same companies on my car..

hey phins, whats the drop rate on the K2s though...whats their range..i've been meaning to ask?

rotarydrifter 08-01-2003 06:49 PM

well sounds good then, what comes with the coil overs that k2 sells??

You get the coil with the collar. Basically the same as Ground Control. You should get the front camber plates as well or you won't have much adjustment. But that goes the same for both ground control and K2RD.

LOL he asked why, I was honest.....

Adjustment, without the front camber plates is about nothing. I believe it's about 4 inches with the camber plates, but don't quote me on that.

They are in the process of a move right now, I will shoot them a message and ask or maybe Mike can answer the question when he gets back from the pool LOL

rotarydrifter 08-01-2003 06:59 PM

Yes, they are Eibach 375 lbs springs.

You talking about the pillow ball mounts in the rear?

rotarydrifter 08-01-2003 07:07 PM

so thats all i would need are the rear pillow abll mounts? and im set , then ill get that rear toe in ellimanator bushing and replace all the bushings with poly ones. any other suggestions?

j9fd3s 08-01-2003 07:43 PM

the big difference between the k2rd and the gc is that the gc are aluminum and the k2 are steel. the k2 camber plates are also a better deisgn, lower profile. k2 also offers a rear mount while gc doesnt at all. the springs are 420/250 but that can be custom ordered, they both use the same eibach 2.5" springs. the springs can also be custom length so you can have the car really low if you want.

Where do you see K2RD's coil overs? I tried looking on the site, but a lot of it is still "under construction"...

since we are on the subject, is their any way to fix the "re-seat" problem??

I think there is some kind of a spacer spring, but i really don't know what im talking about. Any way to fix that problem on either?

are the k2's good for drifting? i'm thinking of setting up my car for a bit of drifting/daily driving.

Leetheslacker 08-03-2003 01:31 AM

Check the teamfc3s.org forums under the drifting category, theyve talked about suspensions recently.

FCmaniac 08-03-2003 09:55 AM

Mike, you sold me on the K2's if they can give me custom rates and lengths on the Eibachs.
